Clinician with lived experience, Advocate, and Change Maker.

The Certified Sickle Cell Mental Health Specialist™ (CSCMHS™) program was created to help bridge the gap between behavioral health and chronic illness care.

Developed specifically for mental health professionals, CSCMHS™ is believed to be among the first specialized training initiatives focused exclusively on the psychological and emotional impact of Sickle Cell Disease.

Why This Training Matters

The Mental Health Impact of Sickle Cell Disease Is Often Overlooked

Individuals living with Sickle Cell Disease frequently experience:

  • Chronic pain

  • Anxiety & depression

  • Medical trauma

  • Healthcare mistrust

  • Emotional exhaustion

  • Family and caregiver stress

Yet many clinicians receive little formal education specific to chronic illness behavioral health and sickle cell care.

The CSCMHS™ program was created to help close that gap.
